Clarington approves zoning change for Newtonville property

Clarington Council has approved the zoning by-law change allowing Newtonville residential property to be used as a general store.

Clarington Council has approved a Zoning By-law change that will allow a Newtonville residential property to add a commercial use for the owner to open a general store. The property located at 4504 Regional Highway 2 is along a major transportation corridor.

The proposed change promotes a diverse mixed-land use in a small community allowing residents access to a local store. The proposal still has to undergo the site plan approval process. Until all conditions of that process are met, the property will remain under the “H” Holding symbol, preventing any changes to accommodate the store.

Read report PDS-043-21 for more information.

The report has recommended the approval of the application to establish commercial uses including a general store and an eating establishment on the property.
