Woman in a stolen Kia fails to stop… drives into dead end

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) arrested a 30-year-old female of Whitby after she failed to stop for police in a stolen Kia. She was blocked in by responding officers after she drove onto a dead end street.

On September 30, at about 8:50 am, officers from DRPS East Division were notified after a woman was seen opening car doors near Scugog and Wellington streets in Bowmanville, and leaving  the area driving a blue Kia.

When officers tried to stop her, she refused and drove on for less than a kilometre to a dead end on Wellington Street where she was blocked by officers and arrested.

Investigation revealed the Kia was stolen.

The 30-year old woman is charged with fail to stop for police, theft of motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, and driving a motor vehicle without a valid licence.
