Clarington biker dies in Oshawa motor vehicle collision

Durham Police said a 36-year-old male from Clarington has died following a collision in Oshawa last Thursday evening.

On August 31 at about 8:05 pm, members of East Division responded to a collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Taunton Road and Arborwood Drive.

A 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was travelling eastbound on Taunton Road when the driver attempted to make a left hand turn onto Arborwood Drive. A 2020 Honda motorcycle was travelling westbound on Taunton Road and struck the Chevrolet, said a police statement.

The 36-year-old motorcyclist sustained critical injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of first responders, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a local hospital.

The driver of the Chevrolet and passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This investigation is ongoing.
