The Municipality of Clarington has cancelled the sale of a plot of land to public via a tender.
The minimum bid amount was put at $33,513.46. According to the last returned assessment roll, the assessed value of the land is $344,000, said the municipal notice.
The land is located in Newcastle.
“The staff who would have more details on this is away today. For now, I can confirm that the property sale has been cancelled,” a spokesperson for the municipality told Durham Post on June 16.
Reports that the property was in arrears and that owners have paid up the dues, could not be confirmed with staff despite daily reminders this week.
The bids were to be opened on July 6.
