Clarington receives application for 1,356 homes community

The Municipality of Clarington said it has received a proposal for the development of a 1,356 homes community in Courtice.

KLM Planning Partners has submitted applications on behalf of 2056421 Ontario Inc. for a Zoning By-Law Amendment and proposed Draft Plan of Subdivision at 1738 Bloor Street in Courtice, said a municipal announcement.

It said the proposal includes plans to develop 1,356 residential dwelling units of various built forms consisting of:

  • Two high density mixed-use blocks
  • Three medium density blocks
  • A neighbourhood park
  • A stormwater management block
  • Two road widening blocks along Courtice Road and Bloor Street.

The development proposal will be coming to the Planning and Development Committee on October 21.

The municipality is seeking public comments before making a decision on the application for a zoning by-law amendment and proposed draft of subdivision.

It said this is not an approved project – this is the start of the planning process.

“The Municipality of Clarington is mandated to accept and process every development application it receives, and our professional staff will rigorously evaluate the merits and suitability of each application, which includes public input through Statutory Public Meetings like these,” it added.
