Old Beaver River Bridge removed, temporary one fabricated

The Region of Durham has announced that the old bridge on Beaver River in Beaverton in the Township of Brock, has been removed and the temporary bridge has been fabricated.

Hydro relocations to allow installation of the temporary bridge are nearing completion, it said in an update.

The temporary bridge abutments are being constructed and the bridge components will arrive on-site the week of October 7, it added.

The old bridge had been closed to traffic for safety concerns.

Both temporary and permanent replacements of the Beaver River Bridge, located on Regional Road 15 west of Highway 12, in the Township of Brock, are being implemented.

The old bridge will be replaced with a new structure and it is scheduled to commence construction in 2026 and be completed in 2027. In the interim, a temporary bridge is scheduled to be opened to traffic in the late Fall of 2024.

The region’s contractor, Elirpa Construction and Materials Ltd., mobilized to the site on July 8th.
