Work is now underway to reconstruct the baseball diamond at Soper Creek Park in Clarington.
According to the Municipality of Clarington, the playground, basketball court, and parking lot will remain open during construction. However, the baseball diamond and batting cage have been fenced off for safety. Residents are asked to use caution when walking or cycling along the driveway, as heavy equipment and trucks will be moving through the area.
Upgrades to the diamond include the replacement of the backstop, new players’ benches and dugouts, and a full reconstruction of the infield and outfield.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of October, though the timeline may shift depending on weather and other factors.
This project has been made possible in part through the Jays Care Foundation’s Field of Dreams grant, funded by TD, which was awarded to the Municipality of Clarington in May.
