Covid Update: Durham active cases fall below 275

Durham Health yesterday posted 23 new Covid-19 cases for June 8, taking the region’s tally to 24,936 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 370, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries to date stand at 24,293. However, there are 273 active covid cases. Twenty-eight cases are hospitalized with 10 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 245 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax, where the infections are inching up to 7,000.

There were:

  • 4 new cases in Pickering
  • 5 in Ajax
  • 4 in Whitby
  • 9 in Oshawa
  • 3 in Clarington
  • No new cases in Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock

Covid Deaths: 370

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 65 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 58 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 62 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
22 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
