Officers disarm man, de-escalate tense stand-off

A tense situation was de-escalated after officers managed to negotiate the surrender of an armed man in Blackstock.

On June 5 at around 2:30pm, police were called in by a family after two men got involved in an argument. One of them had a knife.

Officers, from a safe distance, managed to convince the man to drop his weapon, but he was still combative and tried to engage the officers. After a 20 minute standoff, police was able to negotiate his surrender, said a police statement.

He was taken to hospital for an assessment and faces several charges.
