Covid Update: Active cases go past 200

Durham Health yesterday posted Twenty-seven new Covid-19 cases for August 29, taking the region’s tally to 26,111 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 375, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 25,531. However, there are 205 active covid cases. Nine people are hospitalized with three in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 196 people are in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • Two new cases in Pickering
  • Three in Ajax
  • Six in Whitby
  • Ten in Oshawa
  • One in Brock
  • One in Uxbridge, and
  • Four in Clarington

Covid Deaths: 375

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 67 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 59 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 63 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
23 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
