Crossing guards in near misses at school crossings

After police reports of frequent speeding in school and community zones as well as ignoring the school bus stop sign, Durham drivers are being cited for targeting crossing guards and endangering students.

Town of Whitby yesterday reported that recently, its crossing guards were involved in near misses at multiple school crossing locations.

It appealed to drivers to Please be extra careful while driving. “Help keep everyone safe by slowing down, and always double-checking crosswalks,” said a town tweet.
