Dead dog found inside a metal cage

Durham Police are looking for any information that would assist in identifying a suspect after a deceased dog was found in a metal cage in Pickering.

On January 6 at about 4:30 am, members of West Division responded to a call in the area of 1550 Kingston Road in Pickering behind a commercial business for a deceased dog. A citizen located the dead dog inside a metal cage. The dog is described as a male pit-bull, about one-year-old, grey in color with a white stripe down the middle of his forehead. The dog was not micro-chipped and had no tags, said a police statement.

The dog was malnourished and investigators are working with the Provincial Animal Welfare Services to locate the owner of the dog or anyone who may have information.
