Man, woman in stolen van with cocaine

Durham Police officers arrested two suspects after they stopped a stolen vehicle in Whitby on Tuesday.

On January 12 at about 3 am, members of Central West Division responded for a possible impaired driver in the area of Stevenson Road South and Highway 401 in Oshawa. Officers attempted to stop the white Honda van, however the driver failed to stop for police. The suspect vehicle continued slowly on the westbound lanes of Highway 401. The suspect vehicle eventually came to a complete stop at Thickson Road ramp in Whitby. Police received information that the van was stolen from Clarington.

A female and male were arrested. Police also seized a small quantity of cocaine.

Chris Pelley, age 30, of Mill Street in Oshawa is charged with: Flight from Police Officer; Fail to Comply with Order; Possess Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possess Property Obtained by Crime.

Rochelle Watkis, age 31 of Steele Valley Court in Whitby is charged with: Possess Property Obtained by Crime and Possess Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.

They were both later released on an Undertaking.
