Officers call on Gamble Drive residents today

Durham Police yesterday said it will be setting up a command post near Gamble Drive in Ajax to canvass the neighbourhood after two shootings that occurred within the last week.

Today, between the hours of 12 pm and 3 pm investigators from the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau will be canvassing the neighbourhood on Gamble Drive in Ajax. Over the past week there have been two shootings on this street. Community members are concerned for their safety and police would like to reassure them that this investigation is an isolated incident and they are utilizing all the available resources to identify the suspects responsible, said a police statement.

Investigators confirmed that they located the suspect vehicle in York Region after the January 7 incident, engulfed in flames, hours after the shooting. The suspects were picked up by a white newer model Mercedes with a sunroof.

Officers will be canvassing the neighbourhood and making efforts to locate any surveillance footage from nearby houses. Police are urging any witnesses to come speak with them at the command post (location to be determined).

Anyone with home security or dash cam video from January 7 or January 10th, at the above location, or anyone with new information about this incident is asked to contact A/Det MacKinnon or D/Cst. Beline of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529.
