Driver dies in Durham’s first pole hit of 2021

A 56-year-old Oshawa male died as a result of a single motor vehicle collision in Oshawa on Sunday morning.

On January 10 at around 2:51 am, members of East Division were called to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a single motor vehicle. A 2013 white 4-door Honda Civic was travelling eastbound on King Street East of Harmony Road in Oshawa, when it left the roadway and struck a hydro pole on the north side of the road, police said.

The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was rushed to a local trauma center for medical treatment and was later pronounced deceased.

His name is being withheld at the discretion of his family.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
