Police yesterday said the victims in Durham Region’s latest homicide have been identified as a 30-year-old female and a 67-year-old female from Courtice in the Municipality of Clarington.
Katrina Zwolinski and Laurie Crew were found deceased by police after a well-being check on Tuesday, October 1. The male arrested on-scene has been identified as the ex-boyfriend of Katrina and the father of the child who was also on scene, police said.
The child has been identified as Katrina’s son and Laurie’s grandson. The child was not injured.
The suspect, age 33 of No Fixed Address has been charged with Second Degree Murder x2. He was held for a bail hearing. Hi name is available at www.drps.ca.
Police said their thoughts are with the families this tragedy impacted.
They said intimate partner violence (IPV) can take many forms, impacting individuals in various ways. It includes not just physical harm but also emotional abuse, verbal insults, manipulation, financial control, and isolation from friends and family. Recognizing these signs is crucial.
