Driver crashes into pole, flees scene but is caught

A suspect was arrested following a fail to remain collision and flight from police on Saturday in Courtice.

On June 19 at approximately 3:45 pm, members from East Division responded to Townline Road South and Bloor Street for the report of a motor vehicle collision. Witnesses stated that a vehicle had struck a hydro pole and the driver fled the scene. Officers located the vehicle and the suspect failed to pull over for officers. The pursuing officer observed the vehicle driving dangerously at which time he made contact with the vehicle to stop it and prevent the suspect from continuing to drive in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle was stopped on Prestonvale Road, north of Baseline Road. The driver was taken into custody and did not sustain any injuries.

Jordan Badeau, age 29, of Waverly Road in Clarington is charged with: Flight From Police; Operation while Impaired by Drug and Leave Accident Scene-Fail to Give Name.

He was released on an Undertaking.
