Motorcycle rider critical after being thrown off bike

A Whitby male was seriously injured after a single motor vehicle collision at Winchester Road and Townline Road North, on Sunday Evening.

On June 20th at approximately 5:34 p.m., members from Central West Division were called to a Whitby address for a medical emergency that resulted from a motorcycle collision that occurred near Winchester Road and Townline Road North, in Oshawa. Police were called after the motorcycle rider had returned home and was experiencing a medical emergency.

The driver, a 51-year-old male from Whitby, was eastbound on Winchester when he entered the S-bend. As the driver continued south and attempted to negotiate the second curve to continue east, he lost control of his motorcycle. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries. He returned home where police were called and Durham Paramedic Services transported him to a local hospital. The male was then air-lifted to a trauma centre in Toronto with life-threatening injuries. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
