Driver dies after car hit truck, bursts into flames

One party was pronounced deceased following a two vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon in Uxbridge.

On June 17 at approximately 9:56 a.m., members of North Division responded to a two vehicle collision at Uxbridge Concession Road 6 and Ashworth Road, in Uxbridge.

A 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche operated by an 84-year-old male from Trent Lakes was travelling eastbound on Ashworth Road, which was closed to traffic, as they were resurfacing the roadway. The Chevrolet struck a stopped 2008 dump/water truck which was on the eastbound lane shoulder. The Chevrolet pick-up truck became engulfed in flames as a result of the collision. The driver of the water truck assisted in the extraction of the victim and witnesses performed CPR while 9-1-1 was contacted.

Ambulance and fire attended the scene, the driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the water truck was uninjured.

Collision investigators from the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision who have not already spoken to police.
