DRPS tweet-along: Crash, loitering, gun shots…

A Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) tweet-along patrol had a busy evening yesterday reporting collision, impaired drivers, loitering and more.

Just before midnight, DRPS tweeted of an Armed Person Call. Members of DRPS North were responding to area of Main Street North and Brock Street East in Uxbridge on sounds of gunshots. “More information to come.”

Later, DRPS said “area checked, passerbys spoken to -no evidence of any gunshots”.

Collision: The most serious was a two-vehicle collision in Ajax which sent two to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The collision also forced the closure of northbound lanes on Harwood Avenue North just before Rossland Road East for a while. It was later reopened.

Members of DRPS West Division are investigating and charges are pending, said a police tweet.

Impaired Drivers: The tweet-along team also reported an impaired driver. “One female in custody under suspicion of impaired driving,” said a tweet adding that her vehicle was being impounded. “Stay alive, don’t drink and drive.”

The impaired driver was in the area of Brock Road and Taunton Road in Pickering.

DRPS located another impaired driver in the area of King Street East and Wilson Road North in Oshawa.

Central East Division officers were investigating the occupants.

Officers found a third motorist suspected of impaired driving. They later tweeted: “driver was not impaired”.

Outstanding Warrant: The officers tweeted that members of DRPS Central East Division Community Response Team in the downtown area of Oshawa were investigating a suspicious female. They had taken a suspect in custody on an outstanding warrant.

Loitering: The Central East Division officers were patrolling a plaza in the area of Simcoe Street South and First Avenue in response to community concerns for loitering. Officers are investigating individuals they have located.

One individual was spoken to regarding loitering in the plaza and the disturbance was resolved peacefully.

Break and Enter: At around 5 pm, members of DRPS West Division responded to the area of Harwood Avenue South and Clements Road West. Two suspects were seen walking into a wooded area. Officers located both suspects in the area, took them into custody and recovered property.
