Dundas Street East flooded due to watermain break

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday had to move in to divert traffic from one of Whitby’s principal streets after a watermain break.

Dundas Street closed between Anderson and Garden in Whitby for a watermain break. Roads flooded and will be shut down for several hours. Please find an alternate route, said a DRPS tweet.

Later, the Regional Municipality of Durham advised residents that Dundas Street (Highway 2) in the Town of Whitby was closed due to a watermain break.

  • When: January 18 until the repair is complete.
  • Where: Dundas Street East, from Lupin Drive to Anderson Street, in Whitby.
  • Why: To safely repair the watermain break.

It said businesses and residents in the area may be experiencing a temporary water service interruption or decrease in water pressure for the duration of the repair.
