Durham December covid death toll at 31

Three new Covid-19 deaths were yesterday added by Durham Heath for December 10, bringing the month’s toll to 31. There were five deaths in November.

Durham Health reported 78 new covid cases for December 11, bringing the region’s total to 5,514 cases since the count began on February 29.

Recoveries stand at 4,470, up by 27. There were 826 active covid cases.

According to Durham Health, there were:

  • Twenty-seven new cases in Oshawa
  • Seventeen in Ajax
  • Fourteen in Whitby
  • Nine in Pickering, and
  • One each in Clarington, Uxbridge and Scugog
  • Seventy-three cases are under investigation

Thirty-four cases are hospitalized with eight in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 792 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 218, of which 188 were in long term care homes (LTCH). All new deaths were in LTCHs.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,625 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Three new death in Whitby added

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 39 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Twenty-nine deaths were reported in Whitby, 25 in LTCH
Of the 32 reported deaths in Oshawa, 24 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
