Durham police issues alert on scam about fake iPhones

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said it has noted an increase in fake iPhones being sold through Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji.

Buyers and sellers are encouraged to find a safe public place for exchanges to ensure the safety of both parties. If the price or deal seems to good to be true, it probably is, said the police.

“You can protect yourself by meeting the seller at an Apple Store to have the iPhone verified as legitimate prior to purchase,” it advised.
