Durham police yesterday said a male is facing charges after a theft incident in which he threatened security with a knife in Pickering.
On Friday, April 24 at about 12:25 pm, members of West Division responded to a robbery call at the Shoppers Drug Mart located inside The Shops at Pickering City Centre at 1355 Kingston Road.
A male entered the store and concealed several items in a bag. When the suspect was confronted by staff he fled the store. When mall security attempted to follow the male, he threatened them with a large knife, police said.
A short time later, officers located the male and took him into custody without incident.
The suspect, age 28 from Brampton, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
