Durham witnesses seventh homicide in three months

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) today said a 30-year-old male has succumbed to his injuries after being shot in parking lot overnight in Oshawa.

On Thursday, March 30 at about8:24 pm, members of Central East Division were called to a parking lot near King Street West and Park Road in Oshawa for a male who had been shot.

Life-saving measures were performed; however, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The suspect fled in a vehicle that was subsequently recovered shortly after. Police are still looking for the suspect and are appealing to the public for assistance, said a statement.

The suspect is described as male, with a small build, wearing a dark hooded sweater and dark pants.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Michael Nigris of Oshawa.

The Homicide Unit has now taken over this investigation and are asking for anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to please contact police.
