Fake currency passer returns to settle bill

A Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) team had a busy start to last night with a red light busting driver, an alleged fake currency passer and a fraudster.

Cst. Tudos and Cst. Wong were out last night for a Tweet Along starting in Whitby and going across the region. Air1 watched from the skies.

Cruiser cleaned and ready to roll! First call of the night at DRPS Central East Division. Fraud in Progress. Cell phone store on Ritson Road and Taunton Road East in Oshawa. Heading into the area, said their first duty tweet.

Another tweet said DRPS Central East Division officers were at the scene speaking with involved party. It said one man was taken into custody and facing charges.

Fake Currency

The two officers received another Fraud in Progress call from a Shell gas station at Simcoe Street and Wentworth Street in Oshawa, where the suspect was attempting to pass alleged fake currency.

The suspect left in a black vehicle. DRPS Central East Division officers were in the area looking for the suspect and the vehicle, said the tweet.

Another tweet said the suspect returned and paid the outstanding balance. Call cleared.

Red Light Buster

The team reported a Traffic Stop at Westney Road and Kingston Road in Ajax.

They said the driver failed to stop for the red light and was charged accordingly.
