Fake ID leads to gas station assault and robbery

Durham Police are searching for a male suspect after a gas station robbery in Whitby.

On Tuesday, October 29, at about 7:40 am, members of Central West Division responded to a robbery call at the Esso Gas Station, located at 932 Brock Street North.

A male entered the gas station to buy smoking paraphernalia. When asked for identification by an employee, the suspect presented fake ID. The employee refused to sell any smoking products to the suspect, resulting in the suspect assaulting the employee and stealing several items. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

The victim sustained minor injuries, police said.

The suspect is described as: male, Black, approximately 19-years-old, 5’7” tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants.
