Common themes included:

  • Balancing population growth with employment growth
  • Protecting and enhancing rural landscapes and the natural environment
  • Increasing economic development, job and transit opportunities; and
  • The need to intensify (rather than build outward) yet maintain the elements that make Durham Region a great place to live, work, play, grow and invest.

Envision Durham is an opportunity to plan for change, by establishing a progressive and forward-looking planning vision for the region to 2041. The vision is to create healthy and complete, sustainable communities within the region, and shape Durham into a great place to live, work, play, grow and invest.
