Durham Police said three males and one female are facing charges after stealing over $250,000 worth of jewelry from an Airbnb in Bowmanville.
On Friday, October 11 at about 12 pm, members of East Division responded to a theft call in the area of Cove Road and West Beach Road.
Three males and one female had reserved an Airbnb for the evening of Thursday, October 10.
When the four guests departed the following morning, the owner returned and saw that over $250,000 worth of jewelry was missing.
Police searched the area and located the suspects, who were all taken into custody without incident. The jewelry was located in the possession of the suspects, police said.
Durham Regional Police Service K-9 Unit said PC Wes King and K9 Klutch teamed up to locate the four ‘perps’.
The team located the thieves nearby and issued a ‘K9 Challenge’. The perps wisely surrendered, knowing they wouldn’t win a race against K9 Klutch.
The woman suspect, age 35 of No Fixed Address was charged, as were male suspects, age 41 from Clarington and another, age 38 from Clarington. They were released on an undertaking
The third male suspect, age 37 from Oshawa was charged, and held for a bail hearing.
