GM Oshawa truck assembly to open in last quarter

GM yesterday announced that it is accelerating the start of production of full-size trucks at Oshawa Assembly to the fourth quarter of this year – ahead of the previous target of January 2022.

Oshawa Assembly is on track to deliver one of the fastest plant launches in GM history. This C$1.3 billion investment is helping to create nearly 1,700 new jobs and indirect supplier jobs just as Canada recovers from Covid-19, said a media statement.

The ahead of schedule opening has been made possible with cooperation of government and Unifor partners.

General Motors of Canada is headquartered in Oshawa, Ontario.
