Good deed repaid with negative Covid test

Three fire fighters and one works employee tested negative after they had helped a Brock resident move house over the Easter break. Four people who attended this residence have since tested positive for Covid 19.

Mayor John Grant has expressed disappointment over the ordeal, writing a letter to the community about it. The letter reads:

“The Township has been made aware that three fire fighters and one works employee were involved in helping someone in the community move their residence on the Easter Week.   We also understand that at least 4 people who attended this residence have since tested positive for Covid 19.   At this point we know that our four employees have tested negative and we are also aware that the three fire fighters have received both of their vaccine shots.

As Mayor I am disappointed that members of our staff exercised such poor judgement as most of these individuals are first responders and understand the seriousness of the situation.

Further investigation into the matter will continue and disciplinary measures will be considered and implemented once this has been completed.  We will respect the privacy of those involved as is required by law.

To the residents, I apologize for this incident and I am embarrassed to hear this type of thing would even happen given everything everyone knows about the seriousness of this pandemic.

Public Health will continue their investigative process of contract tracing to ensure they are able to support things moving forward from a public health perspective.

Sincerely,

Mayor John Grant”
