The Home Depot in Bowmanville in the Municipality of Clarington, has been the victim of a counterfeit currency fraud scheme.
The store has previously been targeted by fake currency pushers (see below).
Durham police are searching for a man who used counterfeit currency to fraudulently purchase items from the hardware store in Bowmanville.
On Saturday, January 17, around 2:15 pm, a male attended the Home Depot located at 120 Clarington Boulevard in Bowmanville. The suspect purchased multiple items using counterfeit currency.
At about 3:05 pm, the suspect attended the Home Depot located at 1050 De Palma Drive in Cobourg. The suspect returned the fraudulently purchased items for genuine Canadian currency. Pictures and further details available at www.drps.ca.
The suspect is described as: male, Brown, 30-35 years-old, with a medium build, and black beard. He was wearing a baseball cap, grey hoodie, grey pants, and brown work boots.
