Impaired driver asleep at the wheel had shotgun

Durham Police officers have arrested an impaired driver and seized a shotgun after a traffic stop in Pickering on Sunday morning.

On May 15 at about 5 am, members of West Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Wildflower Drive and Rosebank Road. The driver was allegedly asleep behind the wheel of a blue Mazda and was taken into custody. Police seized a shotgun and ammunition.

The suspect, age 22, of Pickering is charged with: Novice Driver B.A.C. Above Zero; Operation While Impaired- Exceed; Operation While Impaired Alcohol/Drug; Possess Non-Restricted Firearm No License; Possess Non-Restricted Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License. Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm and Have Care/Control of Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.

He was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
