Teen faces charges after twice crashing stolen truck

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said an 18-year-old from Toronto faces numerous charges after stealing a pick-up truck, and fleeing the scene of a collision in Oshawa this weekend.

On May 14, officers reached a collision at the intersection of King Street east and Harmony Road in Oshawa.

A stolen red pick-up truck had struck a vehicle, and while trying to leave the scene, had struck a second vehicle. The driver then fled on foot.

A DRPS K9 Unit officer deployed his police service dog, and the suspect was arrested a short time later.
The male teen has been charged.

Meanwhile, DRPS West Division reported that officers have impounded another car for excessive speed (see image top).

Remember in a zone less than 80kmh, police have the authority to impound your vehicle for 14 days and suspend your licence for 30 days, said a tweet.
