Courtice housing project scaled down to 138 units

Clarington Council is asking residents to have their say today on a plan by a developer to scale down a housing project in Courtice.

Instead of the previously planned and applied for 151 residential lots, the developer now plans for 138 units in total, for now.

The project is planned for Nash Road and Hancock Road (Address: 1828, 1830, 1832, 1834, 1836 Nash Road and 3056, 3090, 3112, 3124, 3136, 3142, 3150, 3158 Hancock Road, Courtice).

Nash Development Limited (Marlin Spring) has revised applications and proposes to amend Zoning By-law 84-63 for a Draft Plan of Subdivision. The proposed Draft Plan of Subdivision would permit 138 residential lots, consisting of 112 single-detached dwellings and 26 semi-detached dwellings, the extension of Tabb Avenue and Broome Avenue, and new north-south and east-west roads, said a Clarington Council notice.

The applications are deemed complete, it said.

Earlier, BV Courtice Partners LP (Trolleybus Urban Development Inc.) proposed to amend Zoning By-law 84-63 to permit 151 residential lots, consisting of 85 single detached dwellings and 66 townhouse dwellings, the extension of Tabb and Broome Avenue’s and new north-south and east-west roads. A public meeting for the applications was held in October 2019.

A staff report was to be made available on Clarington’s Planning and Development Committee Meeting Agenda on Friday, May 13.

The new public meeting will be held on:

Date: Monday, May 16, 2022
Time: 6:30 pm.
Place: Electronic meeting using an online device or phone.

At this time, public meetings will continue to take place virtually. Meetings can be viewed using an online device or telephone at www.clarington.net/calendar.
