Injured youth manages to reach hospital, but succumbs

Durham Police are investigating after a 19-year-old Toronto area man, who arrived at a local hospital with significant trauma, succumbed to his injuries early Thursday morning.

Investigators have made an arrest in connection with the death. On the evening of December 23, members of the Homicide Unit arrested a 19-year-old Toronto man in connection to this case. It is alleged that the accused was known to the victim and stabbed him multiple times after leaving a house party in the area of Rossland Road West and Ravenscroft Road in Ajax.

Anojh Tharsan, 19, of Toronto, is charged with Second Degree Murder and is scheduled to appear in bail court this morning.

A post-mortem on the victim has been scheduled for today.

Earlier, on December 23 at about 2:00 am, members from West Division received a call from hospital staff that a man had arrived and was being treated. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre but did not survive his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Mahishan Kugathasan of Scarborough.

Investigators from the Major Crime Branch Homicide Unit are currently investigating.
