K9, Tactical units deployed after senior attacked in robbery

Durham Police are searching for a male suspect who approached an elderly man in Whitby armed with a knife and demanded money.

On Thursday, March 20, at about 8:40 pm, officers said they responded to an armed person call near Pilkington Crescent and Bradley Drive. The victim told police that while he was out for a walk, an unknown male approached him from behind. The suspect grabbed the victim, demanded money while brandishing a knife, and struck him in the face when the victim attempted to fend him off.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police, assisted by canine and tactical units, searched the area but did not locate the suspect. He is described as a male, White, shorter than 6 feet tall, with a medium build, and wearing a grey/black hooded sweater.
