Key meet today on major Clarington housing projects

Major Clarington housing projects are up for public discussion today evening, which impacted residents can attend and have their say on.These include the proposal for a 25-storey twin towers project in Bowmanville, as well as a 524-unit community project in Courtice, and another 80-home development for Courtice Road.

Twin Towers: Sunray Group is proposing to build a multi-residential, mixed-use development at 10 Aspen Springs Drive in Bowmanville.

The proposal includes one nine-storey mid-rise building and one 25-storey twin-tower mixed-use building. The project will feature 607 residential units and approximately 625 square metres of ground-floor commercial space.

Currently, the Clarington Official Plan allows for a maximum height of 12-storeys.

A land use change has been proposed, said a municipal release. The property is located at the northwest corner of Aspen Springs Drive and Bowmanville Avenue.

524-unit Courtice project: Tribute (King Street) Limited has submitted a Draft Plan of Subdivision and Zoning By-law Amendment application to permit 524 residential units on the southwest corner of Bloor Street and Trulls Road.

The proposal includes 130 single-detached units, 30 semi-detached units, 69 freehold townhouses, and 295 condominium townhouses, said a Clarington notice.

It said the site area is approximately 31.7 hectares (78.3 acres). The applications have been deemed complete.

The property is located at 1593 Bloor Street and 1614 Trulls Road in Courtice (Southwest corner of Bloor Street and Trulls Road – see map below)

Since a land use change has been proposed, the municipality is seeking public comments before making a decision on the applications.
