Police find loaded gun in impaired driver’s vehicle

A 27-year-old male faces numerous charges after police seized a firearm during a traffic stop in Oshawa.

On Thursday, September 8, at approximately 2:45 am, members of East Division were conducting a mobile Ride program in the area of King Street E and Townline Road N. Officers observed a white SUV westbound on King Street and stopped the vehicle. The driver was arrested after he failed a roadside screening. The investigation continued and a loaded firearm was located and seized.

The suspect, age 27, of Oshawa faces several firearm and other related charges which include: Operation While Impaired – Exceed Blood Alcohol Concentration; Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm and Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm no Licence or Registration Certificate.

He was held for a bail hearing.
