Oshawa has installed 16 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at facilities across the city. This is as part of the city’s ongoing commitment to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
With funding support through The Atmospheric Fund, the city has installed Level 2 charging stations which are now available to the public at the following city facilities:
- Civic Recreation Complex (99 Thornton Road South)
- Delpark Homes Centre (1661 Harmony Road North)
- South Oshawa Community Centre (1455 Cedar Street)
- Parkade 1 (on Centre Street between King and Bond streets)
- Parkade 2 (on McMillan Avenue between King and Bond streets)
- Parkade 3 (on Mary Street between King and Bond Streets)
- Consolidated Operations Depot (199 Wentworth Street East)
By making more EV chargers available for public use, the city hopes to encourage more community members to use EVs and reduce their GHG emissions, as outlined in the Oshawa Strategic Plan.
“These new EV charging stations located at city facilities demonstrates our commitment to being environmentally responsible by minimizing our collective carbon footprint,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “I am both excited and proud of the positive steps we are taking together as a community towards a more sustainable future.”
