Robbers hit three jewellery stores in three cities in one day

Durham Police investigators have arrested a young person in relation to three jewelry store robberies in May.

On May 12 at about 3:05 pm, members from Central West Division responded to an attempted robbery at the Graziella Fine Jewellery store in the Whitby Mall. A short time later, at around 3:40 pm, members of Central East Division responded to a robbery at the Oshawa Centre at the Paris Jewellers on King Street. One of the suspects smashed a display case, stole jewelry and fled, said a police statement.

At around 5 pm, members of West Division responded to the Pickering Town Centre for a robbery at the Michael Hill Jewellery store, it added.

A 17-year-old male of Scarborough, was arrested yesterday and is charged with: Robbery; Robbery with Offensive Weapon x2; Wear Disguise x3; Fail to Comply x2 and Weapons Dangerous x2. He was held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing and police continue to look for the second suspect.
