Second Oshawa motorcycle crash claims life

Durham Police yesterday said a 68-year-old Oshawa male was fatally injured after his motorcycle was involved in a T-bone collision in Oshawa.

This is the second serious collision involving a motorcycle in Oshawa in recent days. On September 2 evening there was a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Park Road South and Fenlon Crescent. Both drivers were in serious condition (see below).

On Monday, September 5, 2022 at approximately 1:39 p.m., members from Central West Division were dispatched to a motor-vehicle collision involving a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle and a white 2021 Chevrolet Trax on Simcoe Street near Niagara Drive.

The Yamaha was reportedly northbound on Simcoe Street North when it collided with the westbound Chevrolet, which had entered the roadway from a private drive. The rider of the Yamaha sustained extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured and remained at the scene, said a police report.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
