Lake Ridge Road closure in Pickering, Whitby, Scugog, Uxbridge

The Regional Municipality of Durham, in co-operation with the City of Pickering, Town of Whitby, and townships of Scugog and Uxbridge, is rehabilitating Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23).

As part of the construction, a portion of Lake Ridge Road will be closed temporarily.

When: The closure will be from September 9 at approximately 7 p.m. to September 12 at approximately 6 a.m. Road reconstruction work is ongoing on Lake Ridge Road until September 2023.
Where: The closure is on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) from north of Concession Road 9/Myrtle Road to Chalk Lake Road in the City of Pickering, Town of Whitby, and townships of Scugog and Uxbridge.
Why: For road reconstruction work.

Detour signs will be posted. The region said it realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible.

Thickson lane restrictions

The Regional Municipality has also announced lane restrictions on Thickson Road (Regional Road 26) in the Town of Whitby.

When: September 6 to October 21. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Thickson Road, from 250 metres south of Glengowan Street to 325 metres north of Glengowan Street, in the Town of Whitby.
Why: For road resurfacing.
