Kid-designed, community-built playground to soon open

The Town of Ajax will unveil the kid-designed, community-built playground at Hermitage Park on October 5.

The project is part of a nationwide effort led by Kaboom! to end playspace inequity – the reality that far too many children do not get the chance to play on a playground, something that should be part of every child’s life.

Ajax, Kaboom! and Foresters Financial have come together to construct the new playground at Hermitage Park located at 95 Church Street North.

The playground was originally installed in 2005 and has exceeded its lifecycle, the town said. The project was scheduled to be constructed in 2025, but with a grant opportunity from Kaboom! to fund the upgrades for the playground, the build will be completed this October.

Foresters Financial supports this project benefitting the children and families of Ajax. Since 2006, Foresters has partnered with Kaboom! to provide children with access to play. Through this partnership, the lives of more than 5.7 million children in North America have been impacted, the company said.
