New LTC home in Pickering to be called Seaton Village

Durham Regional Council has approved the name of the new 200-bed long-term care home in Seaton (Pickering): Seaton Village.

The Region of Durham is building a new long-term care (LTC) home in the City of Pickering, with support from the province. The 200-bed home will be in the Seaton community (between Brock Road and Whites Road in Pickering). Projected to open in fall 2026, Seaton Village will offer common spaces (a bank, store, hair salon, worship centre and fitness area); a main space for resident social interactions; and a dementia-friendly design.

After community members outlined a series of potential names, residents were asked—via an online poll—to choose their favourite. Which one best captured the spirit of Seaton? It was “Seaton Village” that earned the highest number of votes, said a region statement.
