Lane restrictions on Taunton Road East till December 16

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of ongoing lane restrictions on Taunton Road East (Regional Road 4), in the City of Oshawa.

When: Ongoing to December 16.

Where: Taunton Road East, from 110 metres east of Wilson Road North (Regional Road 35) to 400 metres east of Wilson Road North, in the City of Oshawa.

Why: To construct a new intersection in support of a new development.

Garrard Road closure in Whitby

The Regional Municipality also announced the closure of Garrard Road in the Town of Whitby.

When: October 7 to 17.

Where: Garrard Road on the south side of Conlin Road will be fully closed to traffic. This closure is part of the ongoing feedermain construction on Conlin Road.

Why: To safely install a new feedermain, sanitary sewers, a storm sewer and a local watermain, and to conduct road reconstruction.

During this time, vehicle access for Garrard Road local residents, emergency services and the Durham Waste Management Centre will be available via the signed detour route.

Businesses in the area will remain open throughout the construction. Durham Region offers an overview of what businesses can expect during construction, including tips on how to minimize the inconvenience on their business, at durham.ca/OpenForBusiness.

The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
