Man breaks into same pharmacy… three times in 5 days

A Whitby male has been held for a bail hearing after breaking into the same pharmacy three times over five days.

Last Sunday at 1:30 am, officers were called to a pharmacy at 965 Dundas Street West in Whitby regarding a break, enter and theft. Unknown person(s) broke through the front door and stole a quantity of medication before fleeing. No arrests were made but security camera footage was obtained and an investigation commenced, said a police media release.

On January 1, at 8 pm, officers were called to the same pharmacy for a similar break-in. A responding officer located a suspect nearby and made an arrest after a brief foot chase. The male had a number of pill bottles from the store. The male was later charged with both incidents and released on an Undertaking, police said.

On January 2 at 7 am, the same pharmacy was broken into. Investigation determined the same suspect was involved. An officer located the suspect walking on White Oaks Court at approximately 2 pm and arrested him without incident. Given his level of drug impairment at the time of the arrest, the suspect was taken to Lakeridge Health-Oshawa for treatment and was held for a medical assessment.

The 36-year-old Whitby male has been charged with Break and Enter x3; Disguise with Intent x2; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x2 and Fail to Comply with OIC Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.
