Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said on August 12, it tragically lost one of its own.
DRPS did not name the deceased or the circumstances of their passing away. It said out of respect for the family’s privacy, no further details will be shared.
“Our member was a dedicated public servant, a caring colleague, and a valued member of our DRPS family. Their passing has been deeply felt across our service. We will remember them for their kindness, commitment to serving others, and the positive impact they had on those around them,” said a police statement.
“This loss serves as a reminder that we are more than colleagues; we are a family. Behind every badge number is a valued and respected person, deeply loved by their family, friends, and fellow members,” the statement said adding that “as a service, we remain committed to supporting their family, loved ones, and our members as we navigate this profound loss together.”
DRPS extended its heartfelt condolences to their family, loved ones, friends, and colleagues.
Clarington Offers Condolences
“Our hearts are heavy in Clarington and throughout Durham Region following the tragic loss of a member of the Durham Regional Police Service. May they always be remembered for their service, contributions and commitment to our community,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.
“We mourn the passing of one of Durham’s finest and keep all members of the service in our thoughts during this terrible time. On behalf of council and the community, I offer our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy,” he said.
