Man causes $100,000 damage at Whitby motel

Durham Police have arrested a 41-year-old male after he caused extensive damage at a Whitby Motel on Saturday morning.

On July 9 at about 1:30 am, members of Central West Division responded to a call at a motel on Consumers Drive and Garden Street, said a police statement.

Police arrived to find the suspect damaging property and causing a disturbance. The suspect also pulled the fire alarm and deployed several fire extinguishers in the motel. All the customers had to evacuate the premise due to the disturbance and fire alarm that was activated. Property damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.

The suspect was arrested, charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
