Mandatory water restrictions coming to Sunderland

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents and businesses in Sunderland, in the Township of Brock, of mandatory water restrictions.

Residents and businesses are required to discontinue all non-essential indoor and outdoor water use during this time, said a municipal statement.

The restriction will be in effect from September 5 to October 15.

The region explained that municipal wells one and two will be offline while the region conducts upgrades. Water use restrictions are necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergencies, including fire protection during this time.

It said examples of non-essential water use includes cleaning driveways or decks, washing cars and lawn watering.

Upcoming road closures on Bay and Mill streets

The Regional Municipality also announced road closures on Bay Street and Mill Street in the Township of Brock.

These will be from September 5 to December to safely replace a watermain.

Road closures will take place in stages on Bay Street from Main Street to Mill Street, and on Mill Street from Simcoe Street to Church Street.
